Funds are to be used to directly support salary and employees benefits (e.g., health, dental, vision coverage). The hosting institution may supplement this funding, but SMSNA is strictly bound by the parameters of its grant funding. Funds may not be used for any other purpose (e.g., overhead, indirect expenses). The hosting institution must provide medical liability insurances as outlined by governance of the hospital and the state board of medicine.

Fellow Eligibility Information
The Fellow must have completed a general urological residency within the last three years and be an SMSNA member or have submitted a membership application. Preference will be given to Fellows who have participated in surgical cadaver labs, have presented abstracts at an SMSNA Meeting, and are eligible for American Board of Urology certification or its equivalence in Canada.

Application Review and Selection Process
Applications are competitive and open to all qualified institutions and candidates in the geographic region of SMSNA and in the therapeutic area of Prosthetic Urology. All applications will be received and scored by members of the SMSNA Fellowship Committee in conjunction with SMSNA Foundation Board. Final funding decisions will be approved by the Executive Committee of the SMSNA.
Payment Information
Awards will be paid to the sponsoring institution (medical school, hospital, university). Awards will not be paid directly to the Fellow or mentor. Funds will be dispersed in two installments, the first payment on or about July 1, 2020 and the second on or about January 11, 2021. The SMSNA Foundation does not withhold taxes (i.e. federal withholding, social security, local or state taxes, etc.) It is the responsibility of the recipient and hosting institution to ensure that appropriate federal and local taxes are accounted for.
Reporting Requirements
Recipients will be required to provide both a Mid-Year Report and a Year-End Report. The Mid-Year Report is due on or before January 8, 2021. The Year-End Report is due within 30 days of the end of the academic year. Report template will be provided.
