Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee advises the SMSNA on how to effectively demonstrate its commitment to DEI, as outlined in its official statement. The committee focuses on enhancing diversity in the scientific workforce by promoting recruitment, mentorship, funding, and networking for women and underrepresented minorities. It also works to address sexual health care disparities, extend outreach to historically underserved communities, and educate healthcare providers on LGBTQIA+ patient care. Key responsibilities include organizing at least one DEI-focused event annually, updating DEI resources on the SMSNA website, collaborating with other committees to ensure DEI is integrated into their activities, and serving as a consultant on DEI-related policies and educational content.
